For the past three years I have headed over to the coastal creative paradise that is Cannes. The brilliant people at TVN (the vision network) bring me along to shoot an enormous amount of content for a variety of media owners, but primarily I spend my time set up in the IAA cabana.
I love working with TVN, they are ambitious with the amount of content they want to deliver, but respect and value quality, its a good combo to have. Check out their website at http://vision-network.eu
The piece below is one of five highlight packages, its shot, editied, reviewed and uploaded all within 12 hours, along with multiple other films. Fast turn around is key for current content.
In 5 days we kick out over 80 interviews, 5 live panel debates a day and a variety of other content for various other clients. Its a really interesting event and we get to interview the biggest names in advertising from across the media spectrum, these include top players from twitter, Facebook, big marketing and advertising companies and plenty of tech companies hoping to digitise creativity.
The key for this project is speed, so I shoot with a LUT burnt into the footage to save time on grading, I work in a format that is easily transcoded but still suitable for web and I make sure that I have a super light weight setup ready to run out and grab B roll in between the stacks of interviews, in this case that package is a GH5 and a DJI Mavic pro. Avoiding seagulls has been the main challenge this year!
Half way through the day Rob Wilson from Prospect Arts heads over and collects the footage and the edit begins, he works tirelessly to kick out a high quality finished piece while it is all still a hot topic, he is a master craftsman, even when working at speed. by the end of the day we are ready to upload the days content in a slick highlight package, by the end of the week Rob has cut 10 one to one interviews, five highlights packages, five additional client films and begun work on the weeks highlights. Its quite the content package we deliver on this job, quality and quantity all done fast and efficient...But theres always time for a glass of Rose...obviously.
